I have decided that when I get my line of DE Swimwear up and running, the first thing I’m going to sponsor is a male beach volley ball tournament which is speedos only.  Why is it that girls beach volleyballs comps are all chicks in tiny little bikinis but guys beach volleyball is dork shorts and often singlets as well.

I’ll do my best to change all that!!!

Actually I was talking to a mate of Kip’s the other day about some ideas I have for the DE Swimwear.  It is something I’ve tinkered with over the years but to really get it going will take a bunch of time which right now I just don’t quite have.

OK guys, I’m off to the pool.  At least the guys there are in speedos.

We were talking about different sports over the weekend and one sport I’ve never played is waterpolo.

I don’t think my high school had a waterpolo team at all – it definitely seems like a sport that I should get into.

I’m thinking that once I’m finished visiting Kip in Colorado that I’ll head back to San Fran.  I’m not sure how long I’ll stay but I might even stay for the summer.  If I do then I think I’d like to maybe take up waterpolo.  I don’t think I’ll be any good but I do swim a bunch and I am comfortable in the water.

And it is one of the last ‘speedo friendly’ sports out there – I suppose diving is still speedo friendly too.  Now we just need mens volleyball and swimming to be speedo friendly as well.  Just imagine mens beach volleyball and the guys in speedos only – what a wonderful dream!!!!

Darn it is starting to get a little colder here. Even the sand is cold in the mornings.

With swimming, particularly in the surf, getting harder yesterday I went for a run.  I’m sore as hell today and I can feel it everytime I stand up or sit down.  Feels good though.  I’ve set myself a couple of goals on how far I’ll run this month and we’ll see how it goes.

Pretty quiet weekend lined up for me – poker night with the boys tonight at my place but otherwise nothing much.  We’ve got a long weekend here (I’m pretty sure).  Anyone got something fun planned for the weekend?

Often I am asked how the ‘speedo culture’ is in Australia.

It is OK, at the pool everyone can wear speedos and nobody would look twice.  If you were a lifeguard or part of the surf life saving club, nobody would look twice.  I’m pretty sure ALL of my friends (who give the impression of being 100% str8) will own a pair of speedos to wear under their boardshorts.  If I go for a swim in the surf in the morning nobody would care.

So with that in mind – I suppose the ‘speedo culture’ is acceptable.

BUT – there is always a but.

But, there is no way I’d just wear them if my mates were having a Sunday afternoon on the beach having a few drinks and playing beach cricket.  I had a BBQ yesterday arvo at a mates place and he has a pool in his building complex – none of the guys would ever strip down to a speedo and have a dip in the pool.  Saying that…. the same guys after a few drinks would strip naked and go for a swim.

Perhaps the Aussie ‘speedo culture’ is ironic.  I’m sure if I hung out with a bunch of gay guys it would be different.

I would LOVE to be at the beach on a Saturday arvo and a game of beach volleyball starts up and all my mates are in speedos…..

I can’t believe I’m up this early – I must be still drunk I think.

Ended up at the local pub last night, Natalie was there and is still in my bed as I write this.  I’m still not sure what is going on with her boyfriend – women are far too complex.

Anyway, as long as it warms up a bit (yeah it is 6C outside (44F or there abouts) but it is supposed to warm up and I have some mates from Sydney coming up for a BBQ, watch some rugby and play some beach cricket. 

Although speedos are completely acceptable attire at the local pool here, they aren’t quite appropriate for an afternoon with friends on the beach so I won’t be beach cricketting in my speedos unfortunately – how awesome would that be though!!!  I think it could even be a spectator sport like the beach volleyball.  Which gets me thinking – the girls in beachvolley ball wear tiny bikini’s – I think those blokes should wear speedos.  That would make it more acceptable for the rest of us to speedo it up.
