It’s been a very long time since I’ve had (what in theological circles is called) a “nocturnal emission.” I had them when I was a teenager, and wasn’t masturbating at all (I didn’t until I was almost 19, but have not stopped for longer than a few weeks at a time since!), and even then, only very rarely–maybe once a year or so. I do think I had one once in the last fifteen years, though, which was actually sort of enjoyable and unexpected and silly–none of that awkward feeling of embarrassment that used to come with it when I was a teenager. Strange!
