Squarecuts or “sungas” in Brazil are very popular. I like them. Yes, a bit more acceptable especially here in Florida. Sexy, but covers just a bit more. I own a few pair and wear them very comfortably on the beach in Naples. It’s a nice look.

Nearly everywhere I’ve been, squarecuts and boxcuts are much more popular than speedos and other brief-style swimwear. And even then, they’re far less popular than shorts or (horror of horrors) board shorts–I mean, really, why not just wear pants that are a size or two too short? There’s more fabric in a lot of board shorts than many pairs of fashionable form-fitting jeans…!

I have many squarecut suits. They look awesome on me, much better than many speedos do, because I don’t quite have a perfect torso, and as I have very long legs, they somehow have a nod toward my height which ends up being very flattering. However, I still like speedos quite a bit, and wish it were more acceptable in many places to wear them–it still tends to be either swimmers, divers, and water polo players who get to do it, or failing that, hot guys or uber-gay guys. Those of us outside those distinctions aren’t appreciated as much when we wear them in public…

I am for briefs, must be the Aussie way here. Is def the culture here, speedos or boardies.

I agree with you Dave, it must be briefs every time for me.I love to see those lovely fit young men showing off thier bulges, wow what a turn on.

I agree with Dave and J.D., although let’s get to the real issue – as long as it’s lycra, is form-fitting, and shows the goods, does it really matter?

I’m a fan of the squarecuts, but speedos aren’t bad either.
