Thanks for your comments and emails on yesterdays post.  If I get 3 comments here, you bet I’m getting 5 times that many emails – I prefer the comments and I get to reply to the comments more than emails but I appreciate them both.

I only touched on it yesterday about depression but it seems to have opened a can of worms.

Is the gay community more vulnerable to depression?

Despite the evolution in social acceptance, does ‘coming out’ still trouble a lot of us?

I’m not out.  My circle of friends here in Aussie think I’m 100% str8.  I am completely comfortable with my current situation, you guys know I like girls as well as guys.  You know I’ve actually been given a hard time over the years BECAUSE I like girls from my gay friends.  If I was 100% out to everyone, I would feel that it would restrict my str8 side.

It is easier for me staying in the closet and I’m fine with that – at this point in my life, I don’t want to identify/explain my sexuality.

Perhaps I’m taking the easy option.  It must be terrifying for guys who are gay to come out.  I’m sure friendships are lost/broken by coming out which is horrible but a fact of life unfortunately.

Does this whole, explaining ones sexuality bring a bigger risk of depression, anxiety to our community?

I’d love to hear your thoughts guys – I’m off to the pool.  Alex can’t make it today, I was going to skip it but I was wearing my black arena speedos and I saw this pic and I want his body which was enough motivation for me to head to the pool.

What a sad day with the news of Robin Williams.  He was someone that was a staple growing up.

I once had a business mentor who outwardly seemed like the happiest guy ever.  He had a beautiful family, he had a small marketing business which was hard work but doing OK and I found out years later that he suffered from depression in a big way.  The last person I would have expected.

I suppose I get stressed and down sometimes but I don’t think I understand what people with depression really go through.  Particularly this community is vulnerable to some pretty big issues with coming out and family.

It feels like it was just yesterday when Tom Daley ‘came out’.

In honor of him doing that I made him my 600th ‘Speedo Photo of the Day‘ over on my site SwimmerBoyz.com.

I wonder how Tom is doing with his new ‘outness’?  I really hope his family have been supportive, I know you guys, the guys who read my blog are supportive of him.

I wonder if he’d give me an interview?

I didn’t realize that Tom Daley wasn’t out.  Now the world knows he is.

I met someone this spring…. and that someone is a guy.  It did take me by surprise a little bit.

On a serious note, I’m not brave enough to ‘come out’ although I don’t feel it necessary for me to do so since I’m not sure who (or what sex) my partner will be.

I agree with Tom’s comment:

“In an ideal world I wouldn’t be doing this video, because it wouldn’t matter.”

If I start dating a girl, or a guy I promise that I’ll put up a YouTube video sharing the worldly wisdom I have gained during my 20 something years.

Either that means Tom Daley is bisexual or it is a shame that he had to say that when he is gay.  Like myself he might not really know yet either and that is just fine with me.

Last night after Sunday night football Kip and I just had a lazy night watching Hottub Time Machine…. awesome movie!!!  During the movie they mention the Great White Buffalo and I had never heard of that before but it makes sense.

Thinking about it, I suppose I have a guy Great White Buffalo and a girl Great White Buffalo (I’ll write about that over on www.BisexualDave.com).

My guy Great White Buffalo was a mate in high school.  We were friends, not super close friends but good enough friends.  I do remember in about 10th grade (15yo) having swimming class and speedos were compulsory and I had trouble not getting a boner watching this guy.  He wasn’t Adonis Hot or anything like that, just a cute guy who was also nice.

After we left high school we were never in touch but last night after learning about the Great White Buffalo I Googled him and found out his recently got married.  Pretty hot wife too although he isn’t as cute as I remembered him.

I think that if we had caught up after high school and he was gay or even bi that might have been my chance to be ‘out’.

I suppose that is what the Great White Buffalo is supposed to be, the one that got away……

I did think of that quote when Anderson Cooper ‘came out’ earlier in the week.

I really don’t see the big deal, everyone knows Anderson Cooper is gay.  In 2007 he was listed as the 2nd Most Influential Gay Person (here is the article).  To me it is kinda like President Obama saying he is in favour of Gay Marriage – I always thought that President Obama was in favour of gay marriage…. it wasn’t until it because news courtesy of Vice-President Biden that his had done a handful of public flip flops on the subject over the years.

My thoughts on this is that it is a shame that someone like Anderson Cooper feels the need to create a media circus so he can annouce that he has a boyfriend.  Perhaps I shouldn’t be disappointed with Anderson but disappointed with a social climate that makes someone feel that they need to make such an annoucement.

In his statement Anderson said that gay kids being bullied was part of the reason for his annoucement.  I think that Anderson Cooper stands for much more than just his sexual orientation – he had a few hard knocks growing up loosing his father at a young age and his brother committing suicide, Anderson also suffered from dylexia which he has overcome and despite his families wealth he is a completely self made man.

I like Anderson Cooper, I’m impressed with what he has achieved and he is hot for an old silver fox.

Perhapas next week Hugh Jackman (who I also think is hot) will annouce that he is str8, has always been str8 and is proud of it….
